Boris, Mark Cavendish, Sun Girls and Tobacco dock.. Op Olympics

This is a bit of a late post but i’ve been on exercise and pretty busy in the build up to deployment…

But during the Olympics while I was working at the Army HQ we had a fast ball the day before to head down to Tobacco dock and cover a visit by Boris, Mark and some of the page 3 girls, it sounded like a tough job! but some one had to do it

This was the first time I’d be filming a VIP visit since my training, a visit and walk around like this is a one shot deal so you have to follow the visit and get as much useful footage as you can, I was a bit nervous but got stuck in. Boris was supposed to arrive on his bike, which would be perfect so I got the tripod locked off by the entrance so I could follow him up on his bike with a smooth pan, which would be the perfect shot to open with but it didn’t happen as planned as he got of his bike at the gate and walked in. The main challenge during the visit was the other cameras, we had and ITV camera crew and lots of photographers so we were all bustling for the right shots, i needed to make sure ITV got footage because they would be broadcasting it so i kept talking to the ITV camera man to make sure he has got what he needed, after all our job is to get the Army in the media so if there’s an outlet covering the same story they have priority as the footage is definitely getting out.

So here’s the video, all shot and edited by me and we got lucky with Boris and he interview especially at the end…
