Photography Training

I’m a professional photographer based out of Shrewsbury, not only do I run my own business specialising in weddings and portraits. I am also a member of the Army reserve as a photographer working in the UK and abroad in countries like Afghanistan and Iraq. I also have experience working in the media. I love to teach others and pass on the knowledge I have learnt over many years.

Basing this course on my core skills, as well as the fact that to take great photos, you firstly need to understand how your camera works. Over the 2 days I will teach you how your own camera works, explain aperture, shutter, ISO and how they all work together to create the right exposure. Add that to new skills in composition and portraiture, you’ll be taking great photos by the end of day one!

I like to keep training fun and hands on, so we will be out and about taking photos! But there will still be some theory to get through. So our time will be spent half and half, with a riverside lunch to break things up.

Once you’ve taken all these great photos, what do you do with them then? I’ll also be taking you through the basics in Adobes Light Room 4, from getting the photos off your camera to basic editing and archiving. LR 4 is the software I use as a professional after all my shoots. (Adobe Light Room 4 is also only £99 in stores compared to £600 for Photoshop)

Finally once you’re happy you now understand how your camera works. You have learnt all the key principles needed to take photos and you can take the photos from your camera and edit them. We will finish the course by discussing what the next steps for you will be, discussing Kit, cameras, lenses and types of photography available to you.

I will lay the foundations, what you do with these new found skills is up to you. However I will be there to offer advice from a private group on Facebook, which you will become a member of on your completion of this course.

All the training is based out of my studio in Shrewsbury over a weekend. With an 08.30 start on the Saturday. There is alot to cover in 2 days, so the schedule is packed and the days fly by! But as the groups are no more than 4 people, you will have plenty of time to pick it up.
